Water, water, water

The Danube being the crown jewel of Budapest may be a cliché, yet very few actually have the experience of living in a riverside apartment directly overlooking the Danube. In the case of most residential parks advertised as being on the river, the buildings and the plot are not actually directly on the river bank, they are often separated from it by a busy road, suburban train line, or other buildings. Thus, “waterfront location” is more of a marketing tool. It is also common that no distinction is made between houses that are really on the banks of the Danube, facing the river, or on the banks of a closed, narrow backwater or bay. The difference is not only theoretical, because of these relatively narrow water surfaces, even those living in well-oriented apartments do not really see the water, but rather look away above water from the smaller buildings.

The Metrodom River is optimally located in both of the above respects. The residential park is located next to the main branch of the Danube, the view of the wide, huge river will impress residents even after many years of living there. At the eastern, waterfront passenger gate the residential complex opens directly to the rapidly developing promenade between Rákóczi and Galvani Bridge (the section running in front of the residential complex will be built by Metrodom.) Here only walking and cycling, will be allowed, residents will only meet joggers, dog walkers, parents pushing strollers, but not cars. The promenade will take you to the southern entrance of the Kopaszi-gát in about 10-12 minutes, and you can walk down to the riverbank a few meters from the plot line.

However, when designing the residential park, we did not settle for the excellent waterfront location, the water, this element that is so dear to all people is evoked elsewhere too for a genuinely premium feel. There will be smaller and larger decorative pools and drip fountains everywhere along the wide promenade winding between the buildings, connecting the western (Budafoki út) and eastern (Danube bank) entrances of the residential park. The sheer sight, the rippling of water has a refreshing effect on those in the garden, even when they do not feel like walking out to the Danube. The atriums inside the buildings, planted with 5-storey high Mediterranean vegetation, must not remain void of water either, so a drip fountain can be found in each of them. Water can also be encountered by children in the water playground, which is also a special feature of the residential complex, as few of the public playgrounds can boast about having it.

The community boathouse is a similarly unique facility no other residential park has to offer. In the two- and four-person touring kayaks, either couples or families can set out to explore the Danube, from Szentendre to Csepel Island.
