Metrodom Contributes to the Development of a New Green Promenade Along the Danube in Újbuda

2026. June 18. Thursday

An important milestone has been reached in the urban development plans for the southern Danube waterfront in Újbuda: the concept design for a new green promenade of approximately 3.5 kilometres has been completed. The proposed promenade could, in the future, connect the Kopaszi Dam area with the Dunafok Recreation Park in Budafok.

The development aims to create stronger links between currently fragmented sections of the Danube riverfront and establish a continuous green public space for local residents and visitors. The concept explores opportunities for pedestrian and cycling routes, community spaces, recreational areas, resting points, and other leisure-oriented functions.

The concept design was fully financed by Metrodom as part of its obligations under the urban development agreement. The plan may serve as an important foundation for the long-term, coordinated development of the Danube waterfront.
