Meet Gábor
Gábor is the quintessential tech nerd. He embodies the spirit of Neo from The Matrix, the very person for whom gaming chairs seem crafted, and he even consults his phone to check the weather outside. His connections to the external world are limited, one of the most significant being his girlfriend, Clare. Although he prefers staying home, he’s fortunate that he doesn’t need to leave often; his work is entirely remote, allowing him to work from virtually anywhere. Yet, he chose to reside in one of Metrodom’s smart homes - and for good reason.
Gábor isn’t one for surprises; he thrives on control—usually exercised through his phone. A true 21st-century connoisseur, he believes every new digital service makes the world a more predictable, safer, and livable place. To an outsider (if they manage to get close enough), he might appear fixated on his phone, yet through it, he manages his schedule, analyzes data, makes bookings, shops, connects with friends, and stays informed on everything that interests him.
Gábor is a strong advocate of efficiency, particularly energy conservation, including his own. He’s not lazy; he simply sees no reason to get up for tasks that can be handled with a few online clicks. Even his light switches reflect this philosophy, as he installed voice-activated controls in his previous residence. However, everything truly came together when he moved into a smart home at Metrodom.
In reality, Gábor had very specific requirements for his living space. After thorough online research, he eventually reached out to the Metrodom sales team. Following a few exchanges, they pinpointed the apartment that perfectly matched his needs.
Even before collecting his keys, Gábor had already placed the Metrodom app prominently on his phone’s home screen. Navigating the core functions—lighting, shutters, and temperature control—was second nature to him. Before moving in, he could have unlocked the door for a courier via the video intercom, though luckily there’s no need; packages can be securely left at reception or in the designated package station. By the time he woke up on his first morning in the new apartment, his automated routine was ready: as the shutters lifted, the thermostat had already brought the room from 19 to 22 degrees.
The only reason the coffee machine didn’t start up on its own that first day was because smart devices not directly integrated into the building’s system require separate setup in the app. By the following day, activating the robotic vacuum, air purifier, and speakers had already become part of scenes of Gábor’s morning routine.
A few days in, Gábor upgraded his outlets to smart plugs when he realized he’d occasionally need to step out of his cozy dream home. Since he tends to feel a bit uneasy when away, he appreciates being able to switch off appliances remotely—just for peace of mind.
Athletics has never been Gábor’s forte, and for years even Clare couldn’t persuade him to get active. But something shifted on his 30th birthday, and since then, he’s been following an online workout program, going to the gym three times a week purely for health. His sense of duty gradually turned to enjoyment after moving here, where he found he no longer had to venture outside to exercise; the gym within the complex became his new workout spot. There, he connected with other residents who, like him, had a cautious approach to fitness but appreciated its benefits. On a sunny autumn day, their four-member “fitness circle” met at the Bubi bike station near the entrance and set out on a ride to explore the neighborhood. To Gábor’s surprise, he enjoyed it, and they even capped off the outing with coffee in the reception café.
Initially, Gábor found it odd that, despite moving to a Metrodom home for its all-in-one convenience, his world actually expanded. Now he understands that a new home often brings a new life, one that’s far richer than before.
